What is the G-Score?

The G-Score is MyMesto's proprietary scoring system that evaluates the nutritional quality of grocery products. Similar to NutriScore, it provides a simple letter grade (A through E) that helps consumers quickly identify healthier food choices.

Unlike traditional nutrition labels, the G-Score focuses on the overall nutritional profile derived from ingredients, making it easier for shoppers to compare products at a glance.

Scoring Criteria

The G-Score evaluates products based on several key nutritional factors:

Energy Content: Calories per 100g
Sugars: Total sugar content
Saturated Fats: Amount of unhealthy fats
Sodium: Salt content
Fiber: Dietary fiber content
Protein: Protein quality and quantity
Fruit/Vegetable Content: Percentage of fruits and vegetables

How the Scoring Works

Our algorithm analyzes the ingredient list and nutritional information to calculate points for both positive and negative nutritional elements:

Positive Points (0-5 each)

Fiber
Protein
Fruits and vegetables

The final score is calculated by subtracting positive points from negative points, then mapped to the A-E grade scale.
